Romans 6:8
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Romans 6:8
If we are united with Christ in His death, Paul says, we should also live with Him in the resurrection. “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.” This verse shifts from the crucifixion to the resurrection as present reality with a future dimension. Believers are not merely saved from sin; they are saved into a living relationship with the risen Christ. The language of faith in the certainty of life with Him underscores the Christian hope: a living, ongoing fellowship with Jesus that manifests in daily obedience and worship.
This verse intensifies the twofold reality of Christian existence: union with Christ in both death and life. It affirms the continuity between this life and the next: the believer’s death to sin is followed by participation in Christ’s resurrection life here and now, with ultimate fulfillment in the age to come. It also reinforces the grace-driven transformation that makes this possible: faith unites us to Christ, who conquers death.
Live with the daily awareness that you walk with a risen Savior. Let this shape your choices: you are not merely avoiding sin; you are living in partnership with Jesus’ life. In mundane moments, invite Him into your plans. For example, at work, you can choose integrity even when cutting corners would be easier. In family life, bring the presence of the risen Christ into conversations that could become conflict. The practical path is to pursue a life that reflects Jesus’ risen life—joy, hope, and service that come from your union with Him.
