Psalms 74:10

“O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?” The refrain escalates the lament into a direct protest against ongoing mockery and blasphemy against God. The psalmist’s question presses God to act: how long will the enemy taunt the holy name and the people who bear it? It expresses righteous indignation at the misrepresentation of God and the persistent threat to his glory and integrity.

Historically, this captures the cry of faithful communities under siege who feel that their God is being insulted in the public square and in their temple.
