Jesus continues the theme by saying not to swear by one’s head because one cannot guarantee even hair color changes. The hyperbole reinforces the point: human ability is limited; do not rely on ritual assurances.
This centers on human dependence and God’s sovereignty. If humans cannot control even the trivial, how much more should one rely on God’s truthfulness and faithfulness?
Be truthful in daily life. Do not over-promise; avoid “guarateed” assurances that you cannot control.
