John 14:19

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

John 14:19

Jesus says the world will see him no more in a physical sense, but his disciples will still see him because he lives. The “world” refers to those outside faith who would no longer encounter Jesus in the same way after his departure. Yet the disciples’ continued life is guaranteed through the resurrection reality: “ye shall live also.” This points to participate in the divine life—the believer’s union with Christ in life, death, and resurrection. The continuity between Jesus’ life and the believer’s life is rooted in faith, not mere proximity. The promise to live is both present and future: in the Spirit, life is now lived in light of the resurrected Jesus who conquered death.

This verse underlines the gospel’s core: Jesus’ resurrection inaugurates new life for believers. Life in Christ is not dependent on visible presence but on the Spirit’s power and the reality of the resurrection. It anchors hope in eternal life and the assurance that Jesus’ victory over death becomes the believer’s life source.

Practical suggestions:

- Live with resurrection hope today: daily decisions reflect new life in Christ.

- Let trials remind you of the emptiness of earthly security; lean into God’s life-giving presence.

- Practice gratitude for small signs of life—growth, recovery, and faithful endurance.

- Share this hope in conversations with others who fear death or meaninglessness.
