Hebrews 6:18

HEBREWS 6:18

“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation.” The two immutable things are God’s promise and His oath. The impossibility of lying underscores the absolute reliability of God’s character. The verse then points to the comfort this certainty provides to those who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us.

This anchors Christian consolation in God’s nature—unlie, unchangeableness, and truthfulness. It ties the past promises with present assurance, showing how truth and oath form a double security for believers.

In anxious moments, recite and reflect on God’s promises and God’s oath. Let the certainty of God’s love and faithfulness become your refuge. When you feel spiritually overwhelmed, picture yourself as taking hold of the hope God has set before you.
