Exodus 3:6

Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

EXODUS 3:6

God reveals himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, linking Moses’ present moment to the patriarchal covenant. Moses’ reaction—hiding his face—reflects awe and recognition of divine holiness. The forefathers’ faith is invoked to anchor Moses in God’s ongoing redemptive drama.

This verse ties God’s self-identification to a faithful, historical narrative. It affirms God’s faithfulness across generations and invites trust in him as the God who remembers and acts. Moses’ fear also demonstrates the proper response to encountering the holy: reverent awe, not fear-driven withdrawal from God’s purposes.

God remains the God who keeps promises across generations. When facing daunting tasks, anchor your hope in a God who has shown faithfulness in the past. Practical step: recall a past instance where God helped you or your community, and invite him to reframe current challenges within his larger, faithful story.
