Deuteronomy 7:8

But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

DEUTERONOMY 7:8

The motivation for God’s deliverance is explicitly love and faithfulness to the oath sworn to the fathers. The verse recaps God’s mighty redemptive act—bringing Israel out of bondage with a strong hand—as the basis for present covenant life. The “mighty hand” is a motif of God’s saving power.

Election rooted in God’s love and pledge reinforces the permanence of divine faithfulness. Redemption precedes and enables worship and obedience.

Applications:

- Reflect on God’s prior acts of salvation in your life to fuel present trust.

- Center identity and hope on God’s promises rather than present circumstances.
