Two Types of Service

Anonymous Usage (Free)

You can use Voices of the Bible without creating an account. When using the service anonymously, we do not collect personal information, and your conversations are not saved.

Account-Based Usage (Optional)

If you choose to create an account (for conversation history and premium features), we will collect certain personal information as described below. Account creation is entirely optional.

Information We Collect

Anonymous Users

When using the Service without an account, we do not collect personal information. Your chat messages are processed by our backend API but are not stored or associated with any identifiers.

Account Users

If you create an account, we collect and store the following information:

Account Information

  • Email address (required for authentication)
  • Display name (optional)
  • Account creation date
  • Authentication provider (email/password or Google OAuth)
  • Unique user identifier (UUID)

Conversation History

  • Chat messages with Biblical personas
  • Message timestamps
  • Selected persona for each conversation
  • Up to 100 messages per persona per user
  • Scripture citations and passages retrieved

Free accounts: Conversation history is automatically deleted after 7 days.

Subscription and Payment Information

  • Subscription tier (Seeker, Disciple, Teacher, Ministry Partner)
  • Subscription status (active, canceled, expired)
  • Payment provider (Stripe, Apple, Google)
  • Subscription start and end dates
  • Daily usage counts (for quota enforcement)

We do NOT store your credit card number or payment card details. These are processed and stored securely by our payment providers (Stripe, Apple, Google).

Automatically Collected Information

For all users (anonymous and account-based), the following information may be automatically collected:

  • IP address (anonymized by Google Analytics)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop)
  • Pages visited and time spent on site
  • Referring website or source
  • Geographic location (country/region level only)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Provide the Service: Process chat requests, retrieve Scripture passages, and generate persona-based responses
Maintain Conversation History: Store and retrieve your chat history across devices (account users only)
Process Payments: Handle subscription billing and verify payment status for premium features
Enforce Usage Quotas: Track daily message counts to enforce free tier limits (5 messages/day) and subscription quotas
Communicate with You: Send account-related emails (password resets, subscription confirmations, important service updates)
Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and user experience
Comply with Legal Obligations: Respond to legal requests and prevent fraud or abuse

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide and improve our Service:

Database and Authentication Services

We use secure cloud database services to store your account information, conversation history, and subscription data. These services employ industry-standard security measures including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.

Payment Processing

We use third-party payment processors to handle subscription payments. These processors collect and securely store your payment card information, billing address, and transaction history. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and subscription status. We do not store your credit card details on our servers.

Mobile App Subscriptions

If you subscribe via the iOS or Android mobile app, your payment is processed by Apple or Google respectively. They collect and store your payment information according to their privacy policies. We receive only subscription status updates.

Backend API Services

Our chat functionality uses a secure backend API hosted on cloud infrastructure. This API processes your chat messages and retrieves Scripture passages. For anonymous users, messages are not stored. For account users, messages are stored in our database for conversation history.

Scripture Response Generation

We use proprietary technology to generate Scripture-based responses in the voice of Biblical personas. Your chat messages are processed by our systems to provide contextual, Bible-grounded answers. We maintain enterprise-grade security and do not use your conversations for any purpose other than providing responses.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide and improve our Service:

Essential Cookies (Account Users):

Authentication session cookies to keep you logged in. These are required for account functionality and cannot be disabled if you want to use account features.

Analytics Cookies:

Anonymous Users:

Chat messages are not stored. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics according to their retention policies (typically 26 months).

Account Information:

Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after account deletion (to allow recovery if deleted by mistake).

Conversation History:

Free accounts: Automatically deleted after 7 days.
Paid accounts: Retained while account is active, deleted 30 days after account deletion.

Payment Records:

Subscription history and payment confirmations are retained for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting regulations.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Right to Data Portability: Request an export of your conversation history in a machine-readable format (JSON)
Right to Object: Object to processing of your personal information for marketing purposes (you can unsubscribe from emails)
Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (though this may limit Service functionality)

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
  • Industry-standard password hashing (passwords are never stored in plain text)

Voices of the Bible is a general audience service suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

International Users
